Jetblue eyes fort lauderdale for its third airport lounge

JetBlue's plans for a third airport lounge are starting to take shape, with Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) emerging as a prime contender.

Jetblue president marty st. george confirmed the airline is actively seeking space within terminal 3 for a future bluehouse club.

While the carrier hasn't yet secured the right location, St. George emphasized that Fort Lauderdale is a natural next step after JetBlue's first lounge at JFK and impending second location in Boston.

Adding a lounge in FLL would cap a year of rapid growth for JetBlue in its largest Florida hub, where the airline has launched 21 new nonstop routes and boosted frequencies on 20 additional flights - largely by seizing gates vacated by Spirit Airlines.

JetBlue's BlueHouse lounge at JFK is currently accessible to Mosaic elite members, JetBlue Premier Card holders, and passengers flying Mint to Europe. Access rules for the Boston lounge, set to open later this summer, are expected to be similar.

In related news, JetBlue is still working to bring its domestic first-class cabin to market, with CEO Joanna Geraghty predicting a late 2026 debut, pending FAA certification of the seats.

However, the airline's financial struggles persist, with a first-quarter net loss of over $300 million attributed in part to soaring jet fuel costs.
