Alaska Airlines Expands Global Reach with New European Routes

Alaska Airlines is accelerating its global expansion, adding two new European destinations to its network. Starting in May, the carrier will offer nonstop flights from Seattle to Athens, Greece, and Paris, further solidifying its presence in the intercontinental market.

Alaska Airlines Expands Global Reach with New European Routes

These additions bring Alaska's total European destinations to five, complementing its existing routes to London, Rome, and Reykjavik. The airline's international footprint now spans seven continents, with two destinations in Asia (Tokyo and Seoul) and five in Europe.

Alaska's overseas growth is a result of its 2024 acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines, which provided access to Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and a foundation for intercontinental service. The Seattle hub serves as the launchpad for Alaska's new long-haul routes.

The choice of Athens and Paris reflects frequent flyer sentiment, as these cities rank high on the wish lists of Alaska's Atmos Rewards members. "We fly where our guests aspire to go, and Athens and Paris have been high on that list for years," said Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci.

Seasonal service to Athens will commence on May 12, operating three times a week until October. The 6,196-mile route will be Alaska's longest ever, connecting Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) with Athens International Airport (ATH). The airline will be the first to offer regularly scheduled service between the two cities and the only West Coast carrier flying to the Greek capital.

Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) will welcome Alaska Airlines on May 25, with five weekly flights running through October. The timing allows for same-day connections between Paris and Honolulu, a key hub for the Hawaiian Airlines brand and Alaska Air Group's second-largest base.

These new routes demonstrate Alaska Airlines' commitment to expanding its global reach and providing more options for travelers to explore the world. As the carrier continues to grow, it aims to offer over 12 international long-haul routes from Seattle by 2025, giving passengers even more opportunities to use their Atmos Rewards points and connect to destinations worldwide.
