Disney Unveils Future Park Plans at D23 Showcase

Anaheim, California – The Walt Disney Company showcased ambitious park expansion plans at its annual Disney Experiences Showcase during D23: The Ultimate Fan Event on August 15th, offering glimpses into projects slated for Disney World, Disneyland, and global parks by 2027.

2024 Showcase Highlights New Lands and Attractions

This year’s theme, ‘Horizons: A Carousel of Progress,’ focused on providing updates on previously announced projects. Disney revealed a wave of new lands and attractions, with some already in active development and others presented as concept art at Anaheim’s Honda Center.

Disney World Expansion Underway

Disney World is currently experiencing its most significant construction period in its 55-year history. Updates included enhancements to existing attractions across all four parks, alongside some surprising reveals.

Cars Land Developments

Significant progress was reported on Cars Land at Magic Kingdom, including the completion of Piston Peak, a new “Cars”-themed area replacing Tom Sawyer Island. Two new attractions were announced: Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin and Cars Ridge Run Rally. Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin will feature an animatronic Miss Fritter, allowing riders to experience a demolition derby. Cars Ridge Run Rally will simulate an off-road adventure through national parks, utilizing innovative vehicle technology to provide a realistic driving experience.

Villains Land Announced

Disney also unveiled plans for a new “Villains Land” area, though details remain scarce at this time.
