Delta Air Lines Expands in Austin with First Long-Haul Flight to Paris

Delta Air Lines has made significant strides at Austin Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) over the past few years, and now the carrier is taking its biggest leap yet in the Texas capital. Delta announced on Thursday that it will launch its first long-haul service from Austin, with nonstop flights to Paris set to begin in the spring of 2027.

The new Paris route marks a "defining milestone" for Delta's push in Austin, according to chief commercial officer Joe Esposito. The service will operate daily during the summer flying season, with the Airbus A330-900neo aircraft featuring 29 Delta One suites, 28 Delta Premium Select recliners, 56 extra legroom Comfort seats, and 168 seats in the main cabin.

This Austin-to-Paris flight will be a unique route for Delta, as it originates in a city that isn't one of its actual hubs. However, it's no coincidence that Austin made the list, given Delta's significant expansion at AUS over the past three years. The carrier's total departures from the airport this year are up 85% from just three years ago, according to data from Cirium.

Delta plans to further expand its footprint at the airport in the coming years, with plans to add 15 more gates as part of a major expansion at AUS. Included in those plans is a second Sky Club lounge, which will be bigger and more centrally located than its current Austin outpost.

With the addition of Delta's Paris service, Austin will have at least four nonstop destinations in Europe by next year, with Delta's route the only one operated by a U.S. carrier. The airline's growth in Austin has been notable, with Delta remaining the No. 2 carrier in the city behind longtime market leader Southwest Airlines.
