Maximizing the American Express Gold Card's Rewards

The AmericanExpress® Gold Card offers a robust rewards program, designed to maximize value for frequent diners and users of select services. Several key benefits can quickly offset the card’s annual fee of $325.

Activate Dining and Uber Benefits

Cardholders are eligible for up to $10 in monthly statement credits (up to $120 annually) when using the card at participating dining partners, including Buffalo Wild Wings, The Cheesecake Factory, Five Guys, Grubhub, and Wonder. Enrollment is required through the Amex website or mobile app under ‘Benefits.’

Uber Cash Credits

The Gold Card provides up to $120 in annual Uber Cash, distributed in monthly increments of up to $10. This Uber Cash is deposited into the user’s Uber account and must be used within the month it’s awarded. Setup requires linking the card to the Uber account.

Uber One Anniversary Credit

To celebrate the card’s 60th anniversary, Amex offers a one-time statement credit of up to $96 for an annual Uber One membership. Enrollment is required by October 30th.

Resy and Dunkin’ Credits

Cardmembers can earn up to $100 in Resy credits (split into two $50 credits) and up to $84 in Dunkin’ credits (issued in monthly increments of up to $7) for use at U.S. restaurants and locations, respectively. These credits require enrollment and must be used with the enrolled Amex Gold card.

Grubhub Payment Method

Setting the Amex Gold as the default payment method on Grubhub earns 4 points per dollar on dining purchases (up to $50,000 annually, then 1 point per dollar). This can be used to cover Grubhub+ subscriptions.
